Dodge County Safety Improvement Study

Client: Dodge County Highway Department

Location: Dodge County, Wisconsin

This pilot safety study analyzed the safety and operational deficiencies of 105 miles of roadway on seven county highways.

Donohue analyzed existing roadway geometry to identify deficient horizontal and vertical curves and substandard intersection sight distances. Project elements also included identification of fixed objects in the clear zone that contribute to crash severity and deficient beam guard installations. Crash data was also analyzed to identify high crash rate segments and intersections. As part of the investigations, a historical and archaeological literature search was completed, and Wisconsin DNR mapped wetlands were included in the project exhibits. The final report identified proposed improvements, improvement staging, and cost estimates.
