Description:
We are seeking an experienced accounting/finance professional to join the Donohue team as a controller. In this position, you will handle high-level accounting, managerial accounting, and finance activities, and supervise all aspects of accounting within Donohue, from payroll to tax compliance. The controller will report to the chief financial officer and assist with the development of internal control policies, procedures, and financial planning and reporting, as needed. The position is located in Donohue’s corporate office in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of direct accounting and/or finance experience. Prior work experience in a professional services environment, particularly architectural/engineering consulting, is preferred. Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee weekly timesheets, employee expense reimbursements, and payroll processing
- Manage project setups, billings and accounts receivable
- Manage accounts payable
- Monitor cash and funding balances
- Maintain organized filing system of accounts, statements, transactions, payments, and debts
- Maintain documented system of accounting policies and operations
- Prepare and organize financial statements for record and review
- Work closely with office managers to develop and manage annual budgets
- Prepare monthly financial reports using proper reporting standards
- Establish, monitor, and enforce internal control over financial reporting
- Support of year-end reporting and tax forms with outside CPA firm
- Support year-end salary and staff classification adjustments
- Organize information and statements for internal and external audits
- Define, benchmark and implement operational best practices
- Comply with all local, state, and federal laws regarding finances, tax filings, and reporting
- Ensure company complies with all additional legal and regulatory requirements
- Lead accounting system software upgrades
- Additional duties as assigned
Requirements
•Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration with an emphasis in accounting; master’s degree a plus
•10+ years of experience as an accountant, accounting supervisor/manager, or similar role
•Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting, and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
•Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in accounting software, Microsoft Office product
•Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, laws, standards, and state/national regulations
•Analytical ability to develop and implement improvements or recommendations
•Strict attention to detail and accuracy
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•Ability to work cohesively with accounting team, senior executives, as well as mentor/lead other team members
